The files were heavily censored before being released to Miklós Klaus Rózsa.
This was done mainly by cutting out text fragments. The edited sheets were copied again and handed over to the person concerned. While looking through the original files in the Zurich City Archives, we came across this censorship technique. For our installation MKR_04, we took up the method. On copies of 30 original index cards, we cut out all censored parts analogous to the State Security and digitally deleted the remaining verbal information. The text fragments that were cut out were read out in a continuous loop in the exhibition room and made clear the officials' linguistic diction and the irrelevance of the censored passages.
The exhibition was opened with a new adaptation of the staged reading Entgegen entgegen entgegen denliegenden Angaben by Gianna Molinari, Karin Sarah Ley and Achim Lengerer as well as a discussion between the curator Doreen Mende and Miklós Klaus Rózsa.
